The passing of Tarsem Chagger

The passing of Tarsem Chagger

It with deep regret that we must announce that Tarsem Chagger has passed away last Saturday, age 72.

Tarsem (or "Chags" as he was mostly known) was a very long-serving East umpire, and was one of the original National League umpires when it was first started in 1988. Latterly, Chags was a Match Official for the National League and also a Table Official at Tournaments, such was his love for the game.

He was a very long-serving member of Bedford Hockey Club and, whenever he could, he would be there helping out with umpiring and giving advice on hockey.

Chags was a legend in East Hockey. He will be sorely missed by all those who had the privilege to umpire with him over many, many years.

We send our sympathy to his family in Bedford.

Chags - you will be missed!
