RIP: Russell Nutter

RIP: Russell Nutter

It is with a very heavy heart we have to report the death of ex-East League Chair and League Manager Russell Nutter.

We believe Russell passed away in his flat sometime on Friday 12th March.

For many years Russell was a stalwart of Letchworth Hockey Club and served as a player, umpire and with various posts on the club committee for many years. Russell also joined the East League Committee in the mid 90's and was elected as Chair of the East Men's League for the 1999/2000 season.

In 2005 the East Men's and East Women's Leagues combined with Russell taking the role of Chair on the new joint committee, until 2011 when he passed the reigns over to current Chair Rosemary Prince, however he maintained his presence on the East League Committee as League Manager for the Men's Premier Divisions until the end of last season when he decided to retire.

Russell was the epitome of the spirit of hockey believing teams should play hard but fair and then enjoy the company of your team mates, opposition and friends in the bar afterwards.

Russell will be sorely missed.
