Rule changes that are to be implemented into the 2019/2020.
This afternoon week have received confirmation from England Hockey regarding the rule changes that are to be implemented into the 2019/2020 season. Many clubs have been asking are we moving to quarters or are we staying at halves.
In regard to the East League as a Regional League England Hockey have decided that we will continue to play 2 x 35 minute halves. At England Hockey League level they will be playing 4 x 17.5 minute quarters, with the clocks not being stopped for short corners. Other new rules regarding goal keeping privileges, encroachment by the attacking side at short corners and attacking free hits around the circle have also been implemented/clarified.
We attach the brief from England Hockey and we encourage clubs to brief their umpires as soon as they can and allow them to practice using these rules in friendly matches. If clubs have any questions at all please do not be afraid to contact either England Hockey or their County Umpiring Association coaches for guidance.
If you are unsure at all then please contact East League Secretary Neil Liversedge (email@example.com) and he will point you in the right direction.
